Early Head Start

Families participate in weekly scheduled home visits that support parents in their role as their children’s first teachers. Our family advocates provide parenting support and guidance to help children reach developmental milestones. They also guide families with health and nutrition information. Early Head Start also helps parents achieve educational goals, enhance job skills, and address family needs.

Families enrolled in Early Head Start participate in a weekly play group. The group is designed for parents to share an activity with their child and take part in a discussion group focused on parenting skills and reducing stress.

Who is eligible?

  • Families living in Central Falls, Pawtucket and Providence
  • Pregnant women
  • Families with a child under age 3
  • Families must meet income guidelines

Children with disabilities are welcomed and included in all aspects of Early Head Start. The staff works with parents and specialists to plan a program tailored to each child’s needs.
