At Children’s Friend, we are committed to nurturing children and empowering families. Your rights, dignity, and privacy are important to us. You deserve to be fully informed and respected throughout your experience with our programs.

Summary of Client Rights and Privacy Practices

Equal Access to Services: All children and families are welcome and have equal access to eligible services at Children’s Friend.

Client Information Rights: You have the right to review and amend your records, request disclosures, and receive copies of approved authorizations for information release.

Data Minimization: We collect information that is required by state or federal law or regulations to enroll your child or family in our programs. Once enrolled, we collect information that is relevant or could be related to the service(s) you or your child are receiving. We may also collect information that allows us to track program metrics and outcomes. We strive to limit the amount of data we store about you or your family that is not necessary for the services you are receiving.

Confidentiality and Permitted Disclosures: Your information is kept confidential. The only situations in which your information would be disclosed are mandated abuse reporting or legal subpoena. You must authorize disclosure of your records for additional treatment, payment, and/or program evaluation purposes. Your written consent is required before a disclosure can be made and appropriate disclosure consent will be requested during program enrollment or as needed.

Service Transparency: You are entitled to information about service hours, costs, provider qualifications, program expectations, and grievance procedures, including how to escalate concerns.

Informed Participation: You have the right to understand the services provided. You have the right to give or refuse consent for use of your case for research or public presentations. You have the right to be informed in a language you understand.
