It’s the first week of August, and we have officially started counting down the days until our Annual Holiday Drive. Each year, it takes a large greater community to join together in a common goal – to spread hope and joy for families in need.

Being a part of a community can make us feel like we are a part of something greater than ourselves. Having a sense of community strengthens our neighborhoods, our families, and our children. It gives us opportunities to connect and help each other. In the case of the Holiday Drive, it helps to spread the magic of a season for making family memories that last a lifetime.

For this reason, we are excited to announce a new partnership with Girl Scouts of Southern New England to support vulnerable children this upcoming holiday season.  Like Children’s Friend, the Girl Scouts have been serving children for well over a century. We are grateful for their willingness to join our community, ready to make a difference!

Here are some important dates of our collaboration:

  • Service Troop Meeting, August 25 – The Holiday Drive launches with Troop Community Service Projects.
  • Back to Troop Day, August 28 – The Girl Scouts will be collecting back-to-school supplies to benefit Children’s Friend.
  • Annual Cookie Kickoff, November 6 – The Girl Scouts will be holding a Toy Drive in conjunction with this popular annual event.

The Girl Scout slogan, which has been used since 1912, is “Do a good turn daily.” It is a reminder of the many ways girls can contribute positively to the lives of others. The Girl Scouts of Southern New England live this every day, especially by supporting other children and making our greater community a better place for all.
