We at Children’s Friend have been and continue to be concerned with the number of victims of child abuse and neglect in Rhode Island. As we continue to focus our work on reducing the incidents of child abuse and neglect here in Rhode Island, a new national report has shed some light on the issue of child abuse and neglect nationally.

This Children’s Bureau of the Administration for Children and Families released their Child Maltreatment 2018 report. This report documents that in 2018 there were 677,529 victims of child abuse and neglect nationally. This translates to 9.2 victims per 1,000 children and represents an increase from 2017. We have much work to do both locally and nationally to improve outcomes for our children. Thank you for your support of our work and please join with us as we raise our voices in support of our children.
